Comments from Shannon to me:

Hey Lucy this is great I particularly like the bottom picture :) kepp up the great work and theres no reason for you to not be happy with these! They are great :D

I really like the looks of number 6. cute drawings lucy, keep it up :)

Hey lucy, big thanks for the comments on my posts they are really going to help me :D. I really like the notion of 'not being afraid to hide who you really are'. Its simple yes, but don't forget in it's simplicity it can really stand out and put that message across to the viewers. over complicating it could detract from the message you want to put across. Secondly I love the way the animals take on human characteristics wearing and utilising human objects and prop on the protagonists mission to individuality. I agree with Phil, maybe make this a birds world and look into the sterotypical traits and characteristics of different birds if you want more to go on? Looking good and I can't wait to see how this rebel penguin evolves!
wow this looks awesome :) like the use of ink and the strong sense of composition that creates

Hey Lucy :), great initial ideas its hard to get the ball rolling. I think it would be pretty funny if the plot was really exaggerated, perhaps the bear could discover his hidden talent of skateboarding and go tony hawks through an entire skate park. Just a thought that made me giggle whilst I read this. Also I think the quiet reflective skater boy/girl could be a nice touch. You can always substitute the bear for another character to see what changes that could bring to the story. Looking forward to seeing how this progresses. Good luck creative pal :D.

My comments to Shannon:

Im confused about the ending, there's some sort of earthquake, the potion slips out of his hands, but from there it's a bit unclear to me. But the rest was very easy to read :D And you get a real sense of adventure. But I also feel the dinosaur doesn't actually play much of a role in this story?? I hope I don't sound too harsh =) And also I don't know if these are completed? exciting stuff

Hey shannon :D Wow you're on character design already!! Awesome! She's really pretty, but maybe you can introduce her role more into her visual concept. If she's a tooth fairy, maybe somehow show that? Not so much that you have to draw teeth, but maybe she can have the tools or bags on her to collect them. looking really good

everything's pointy, sharp and jagged, it looks scary & dangerous - is it supposed to be?? Really nice drawing :D

Unit 3: Concept Art; Parrot Keep

Realized I don't have a clear view of the parrot keep, and more expressive speed paints

Unit 3 Story Telling: Enviroments

Developed my penguin keep a bit more..

Perhaps not the most interesting drawing, but this is the set-out I like the most, and will be using this one to build from in maya for the scene. It's sleek and simple.
I decided to draw the area for the scene in my story board where Gie lands in a pond after his trick..
This is how all my drawings begin

With a couple of parrots added.
The problem with this drawing is that the "pond" is more of a puddle, and Gie would probably die if he landed in this. Hah!

Unit 3 Story Telling: Character & Environment design progress

Here are some sketches from when I was trying to figure out how to develop Gie so he can be identified as a male. I liked 2, but i'm still not 100%. It's stressful & heart breaking knowing I'm behind the design half of this project!
Developed idea 2 a bit.. The quiff of hair would help the hair clip part of the scene, having hair and such..

Some sketches for how female penguins can look. Sorry these aren't numbered.
My parrot Sushi posing for me, I was sketching him in my book which inspired these thumnails for the parrot..

A smoother cleaner penguin keep. It's a very messy drawing. It's a bit empty but it will contract more with the parrot world. Still not happy with the design, though.

Story Telling - Updated Script

Unit 3: Story Telling - Character, Costume & Enviroment Design

I decided re-design his outfit for his "ultimate form", hehe. I wanted to make it more tropical and more in the spirit of the parrot world rather than roses like the design before.

A quick design of what the dad will look like from sketches on my story board. I haven't drawn emotions yet as I'm still not 100%

Smoothing out the penguin rookery a bit. This enviroment still isn't finished, it's lacking something. The glass on the left side will be water where you can see the penguins swim - and the right is where the audience stand. It's important that the people are in the open so they can drop stuff into the keep.
It looks dark, as intended, at the end I was thinking of having the keep well lit when Gie finally can express himself within his home.

Project 3: Story Telling; Character & Costume Design

Here I took one design from my ideas for the main Male Penguin, and developed the favoured one. I don't know if I'll keep this design, I'm not yet 100%. Here I also started an idea on his 2 friends, and tried coming up with names for the penguins. (Gie would be the main Young Male penguin.)
I also did a little costume design for Gie.

Unit 3: Story Telling; Speed Paint

Not too happy with either colour scheme or the layout generally, will have to rethink this set
